Subject: CG: There are just ten kinds of a sign Date: Mon, 07 Jan 2002 13:52:44 +0200 (EET) From: marjomaa@cs.joensuu.fi Reply-To: cg@cs.uah.edu To: cg@cs.uah.edu Dear all, in KR book, pp. 396-7, there is shortly introduced Peirce's way to classify signs. However, it is essential to notice that there are just 10 possible classes of signs, based on the three trichotomies (KR, Figure 6.14): http://cs.joensuu.fi/pages/marjomaa/CMkurssi/demot/10signs.htm And where is it essential to notice that? I have in mind to build a kind of a Peirce-window through which we may consider some sign as being, for instance, Dicent and Symbol at the same time, from different (persons') perspectives.
